Colossal Facts is a place for short, surprising and true stories. We write about bridges that the wind brought down, about people who survived against all odds, about machines of impossible size and about natural phenomena that look made up but are not.
Our mission
We believe the real world is more interesting than any invention. Our goal is to tell verified stories in clear, lively language – short enough to read in one breath, and accurate enough to be relied on. We want readers to learn something new, to be surprised and to feel like telling it to someone else.
How we research and verify
Every story starts with research. The Colossal Facts team works with reliable sources – official websites of institutions and organizations, scientific publications, encyclopedic references and established media. We cross-check dates, numbers and names against more than one source. When a fact cannot be confirmed, we do not publish it. We do not invent quotes and we do not embellish events. When sources disagree, we say so openly. If you notice an inaccuracy, write to us – we check every report and correct when needed.
What we write about
Our stories are organized into six sections:

- History – events and decisions that changed people’s lives;
- Science & Space – discoveries, experiments and missions;
- Places – unusual spots on the map of the world;
- Nature – organisms and phenomena that surprise even scientists;
- Incredible Stories – true stories of survival, luck and persistence.
Our audience
We write for curious people of all ages who like to learn something new, with no special education required. A large part of our readers come from our Facebook page. For the last 30 days – from 21 September to 21 October 2026 – our content there had 10 million views and 1.8 million viewers, 73.9 thousand interactions and 2.2 thousand new followers.
